Actually the thing I find hard to swallow is not if the person was depressed at that time but, that he asked thousands of people to try to get someone to kill them selves. I am quite relieved to know that no one was hurt but it was a threat (joking or not) in front of thousands of people on and off stage. The apology was great but not really enough when it comes to threats in Real Life.

How the media ends up (ab)using it doesn't really depend on what it 'is', so much as on what it can be presented as. And if they do pick it up it will certainly be presented in the context of cyber-bullying as this is a term currently much beloved by the media. In the UK at least, this rubric is not restricted to stuff involving kids but the additional dimension of it happening in a 'game' is bound to reinforce the 'think of the children!' aspect of any story.

They said in statement that it was always supposed to be open forum and the public presenters were expected to keep the posts to within the areas of proper conduct. As such, they were not reviewed. CCP has had dealing with the Goons/test people before, and am sure they were not expecting the comments that did come out.

Still can't manage to find where he explicitly says "EMAIL THIS GUY AND TELL HIM TO KILL HIMSELF."

He gives the guy's account's name and encourages people to suicide gank him. CCP has already made it clear that suicide ganking is a part of Eve's gameplay. At no point does he encourage sending mail to The Wis nor does he endorse that type of behaviour. He simply gives the account name of The Wis.
